Jil Sander makes the case for one excellent sweater over ten adequate ones. A heavy knit in black cotton and polyamide, cut loose with dropped shoulders, ribbed at the collar, cuffs and hem, and split at the sides so the weight falls straight instead of clinging.
A small stitched detail beneath the collar is the only flourish, which is exactly as many as the label allows.
